Changing passwords

Who can change the password

The logged-in user or the RBACAdmin has the authority to change the password:

  • Users can reset or change their own password. User must be logged-in to change his or her password.
  • RBACAdmin can reset or change his or her password or the password for a particular user.

What happens after password is changed

After a password is changed for a particular user, all the existing sessions (RCP, BLCLI, REST, and SOAP) for the user are invalidated. The same session cannot be used for further operations and the user is required to acquire a new session for continued operations, using the new password.

How to change the password

You can change the password using one of the following methods:

  1. Using SRP Password method
If you use the secure remote password (SRP) authentication method, you can change your SRP password while running the TrueSight Server Automation Console.
If you attempt to log on using an expired SRP password, the Change Password dialog box box appears. Use the dialog box box to provide a new password, as described below.

    Important

It is recommended to verify and save any unsaved changes in all your clients before proceeding with the password change as all the existing sessions (RCP, BLCLI, REST, and SOAP) will be invalidated. You will be redirected to the login page.

    1. Select Configuration > Change SRP Password.
The Change Password dialog box appears.
