Configuring the console inactivity timeout

The settings pertaining to console inactivity govern the actions of the TrueSight Server Automation console when a user remains inactive for a designated period. This feature provides an additional safeguard for sensitive data by reducing the risk of unauthorized access when a user's device is unattended. This feature also ensures compliance with regulations requiring security measures to protect user data.

You will be automatically logged out of the console if inactive for a specified duration. The TrueSight Server Automation administrator can define this duration by utilizing the ConsoleIdleTimeOut parameter within the Blasadmin utility.

Parameter

Description

ConsoleIdleTimeOut

The parameter specifies the duration of inactivity, measured in minutes, to be assigned. Valid values are:

0 (Default) - The inactivity detection feature is not activated.

5 - The inactivity detection feature is activated with a 5-minute threshold. This value can be adjusted to any positive integer greater than or equal to 5.

This table presents various scenarios regarding the behavior of the ConsoleIdleTimeOut parameter.

To set the console inactivity interval

  1. Start the Application Server Administration console, as described in Starting-the-Application-Server-Administration-console.
  2. To check the existing console inactivity interval, enter:
    show ConfigManagerUI ConsoleIdleTimeOut
  3. To set the console inactivity interval, enter:
    set ConfigManagerUI ConsoleIdleTimeOut #
where # is the interval in minutes for which the TrueSight Server Automation console can remain inactive. This value can be any positive integer greater than or equal to 5. By default, this option is set to 0 minutes. This means the feature is disabled by default.
