Solaris Live Upgrade (LU) patching
Some versions of Solaris have the capability of maintaining multiple instances of the Base Operating Systems (BOS). The user can boot any one instance of the BOS which is called the active instance. The instance which has not been booted remains as a stand-by instance. BMC Server Automation supports updates on the stand-by BOS without affecting system files on the active BOS.
Enabling patch remediation on stand by BOS instance of a Solaris server
Patch analysis is always performed on the active BOS. To enable patch remediation on the stand-by BOS of a particular Solaris server, perform the following steps in the BMC Server Automation Console:
- Select the Solaris server from the Server node.
- Set the IS_SOLARIS_LIVE_UPGRADE* property to True to perform patch remediation on the stand by BOS.
- Enter the name of the alternate boot environment (stand-by BOS instance) that you want to remediate, in the SOLARIS_ALTERNATIVE_BOOT_ENV* property field.
