Stocking a data store with a SUSE 10 operating system

To stock a data store for SUSE Linux 10, copy the operating system for SUSE Linux 10 from installation media to the data store.

To stock a data store with SUSE Linux 10

  1. Create a directory in the data store to hold the SUSE operating system installation files. For example, if the root directory of the data store is C:\Program Files\BMC Software\BladeLogic\PXE\pxestore, enter the following command:
    mkdir "C:\Program Files\BMC Software\BladeLogic\PXE\pxestore\suse10_1"
  2. The SUSE 10 installation media can be either a DVD or a set of CDs. Perform the appropriate task for your installation media:
  3. If you are using IIS, you must delete the package.csfile:
    1. In the BMC Server Automation Console, from the Tools menu, choose Property Dictionary.
    2. In the Property Class Navigation panel at left, open the Built-in Property Classes folder, then open the DataStore subfolder.

To copy the SUSE 10 installation files from a DVD

  1. If you have a DVD, create one subdirectory under the suse_10 directory. Name this directory DVD.
  2. Copy the contents of the SUSE product DVD into the newly created DVDdirectory.

    Note

When you use the Configurations window to identify the location of operating system installer packages, ensure you enter a path relative to the base directory of the data store. The path should include the DVD directory. For example, if the DVD directory is located in C:\Program Files\BMC Software\BladeLogic\PXE\pxestore\suse10_1, and the base directory of the data store is C:\Program Files\BMC Software\BladeLogic\PXE\pxestore, you would enter suse10_1\DVD.

To copy the SUSE 10 installation files from CDs

  1. If you have a set of CDs, create one subdirectory under the suse10_1 directory for each CD in the set. Name the directories CD1, CD2, CD3, and so on.
  2. Change (cd ) to the suse10_1 directory.
  3. Copy the entire contents of each SUSE product CD to its corresponding directory.

    Note

When you use the Configurations window to identify the location of operating system installer packages, ensure that you enter a path relative to the base directory of the data store. The path should include the CD1 directory. For example, if the CD directory is located in C:\Program Files\BMC Software\BladeLogic\PXE\pxestore\suse10_1, and the base directory of the data store is C:\Program Files\BMC Software\BladeLogic\PXE\pxestore, you would enter suse10_1\CD1.
