BMC Server Automation supports both Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization platforms, Red Hat KVM and Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Manager for Servers (RHEV Manager).

Red Hat KVM requirements

  • The latest version of libvirt (version 0.6.3 or later)
  • One or more domains running on the server
  • The BMC Server Automation RSCD agent for Red Hat Enterprise Linux

Red Hat KVM access and privileges

For a Red Hat KVM environment, you must have root access to the Red Hat KVM host server.

RHEV Manager requirements

To employ BMC Server Automation in a RHEV Manager server virtual environment, you must configure the RHEV Manager server (running RHEL version 6.2 with RHEV3.0 installed) to act as a target server.
