Creating the UCS Template

A UCS template is a configuration item that contains the description of a single UCS blade. A UCS template in the BMC Server Automation interface corresponds to a Service profile template in the Cisco UCS interface.

After you create a UCS template, you can deploy that template multiple times from the BMC Server Automation Console onto UCS blades. In Cisco UCS terms, this deployment creates profiles or logical servers in the UCS system.

To create a UCS Template

  1. Right-click the name of the Depot folder where you want to create the UCS template and select New > UCS > UCS Template.
  2. Provide information for the new template as described in the following sections:

  3. Click Finish.
The template appears in the template editor.
  4. Fill out the panels of the template, as described in Defining-UCS-template-settings.

  5. When you finish defining template settings, select File > Save.

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
