UCS Manager provisioning
This section describes how to use BMC Server Automation UCS Manager (the integration of BMC Server Automation UCS Manager with the Cisco UCS Manager) to provision blades in a Cisco UCS system. The following table provides a high-level description of the process for provisioning UCS blades and includes links to topics with detailed instructions.
Step | Description | Supporting topic |
---|---|---|
Plan and prepare the environment | Review the provisioning requirements and prerequisites for the UCS environment. Some prerequisites are tasks that you must perform before you can perform UCS provisioning. | |
Create a UCS template and define its settings | This template contains all of the characteristics of the system that you are about to provision—the selected blade or blade pool, VNICs, boot order, policies, and other characteristics. A UCS template in the BMC Server Automation interface corresponds to a Service profile template in the Cisco UCS interface. | |
Create pools in the Depot folder | Create MAC pools, storage pools, and (optionally) UUID suffix pools. | |
(Optional) Create a system package | If you want to provision the operating system on a bare-metal blade, create a system package for the operating system that you want to provision on the blade. | |
Create and run a UCS Provision Job | Create, execute, and view the results of the UCS Provision Job. If you want to provision the operating system on a bare-metal blade, use the system package that you created in this Provision Job. |
