Copying iDRAC drivers to a data store

You can copy drivers from an iDRAC device to a data store so they can be shared for provisioning other iDRAC devices in the BMC Server Automation system.

You might share drivers in this way to use a particular version of a driver in provisioning multiple iDRAC devices, irrespective of the driver version hosted by each device locally.

Before you begin

Create a data store instance that represents the Windows share on which to copy the shared driver set.

Note

Do not keep the $WinPEDriver$ folder on the data store. When the Windows 2008 installer searches for drivers, it looks for the $WinPEDriver$ folder on all available drives. The data store is one of the drives the installer searches. If the drivers stored in the $WinPEDriver$ folder are not correct, the Windows 2008 installation fails.

To copy iDRAC drivers to a data store

  1. In the Devices folder, navigate to the iDRAC device whose drivers you want to share.
  2. Right-click the device and select Copy Drivers to Data Store.
  3. Provide the following information:

Select the Operating System specific driver set to share

The operating system drivers to share with other iDRAC devices. Select the driver set from the drop-down menu.

    Select the Datastore instance

The data store instance in which to store the shared drivers. Click g_V95_BrowseIcon.gifto navigate to the instance of the data store.

Provide the folder name where the driver set is be copied inside the data store

Enter a folder name. The system creates the folder in the data store where the drivers are stored.

  4. Click Finish.

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
