Running the Patch Downloader utility for SUSE Linux Enterprise

The following procedures describe how to run the Patch Downloader utility and how to extract RPM packages from files using the ISO format.

Warning

Note

The Patch downloader also downloads base rpm files which are not added to the patches in the Catalog. Hence, the offline SUSE Linux Catalog adds lesser number of patches to the Catalog than it has downloaded.

To download patches using defined filters for SUSE Linux Enterprise

Enter the following command:

sh suse_downloader.sh -configFile "<downloaderConfigurationFilePath>"

This command uses the following variable:

<downloaderConfigurationFilePath>

Location of the configuration file used by the Patch Downloader.
Note: Quotation marks are required.

To extract packages from ISO

Enter the following command:

sh suse_downloader.sh -extractPackagesFromISO -repoLocation "<patchRepositoryFilePath>"
-isoLocation "<isoFilePath>" -osArch "<operatingSystemArchitecture>"
Warning

Note

You must execute the extractPackagesFromISO command on a Linux computer only.

This command uses the following variables:

<patchRepositoryFilePath>

Local location of the patch repository used by the Patch Downloader
Quotation marks around the path are required.

<isoFilePath>

Location of the ISO from which RPMs are extracted.
Quotation marks around the path are required.

<operatingSystemArchitecture>

An OS/architecture combination; for example, SLES10x86
Note: Quotation marks are required.

 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
