Viewing Workflow Job results and logs

You can view a history of job results from all runs of a Workflow Job through the Jobs folder. For any job run in the job results you can also display a log that contains all the messages generated for the job run.

Note

A Workflow Job run cannot be undone.

To view a history of job run results

  1. In the Jobs folder, navigate to the relevant Workflow job, right-click on it, and select Show Results.

All runs of the job and their outcome are displayed beneath the job.

If the Workflow Job invoked the execution of a child job using the executeWorkflowChildJob or executeWorkflowChildJobId BLCLI command, an additional job run node for the child job is displayed below (and hierarchically subordinate to) each Workflow Job run. Additional information displayed for the child job depends on its job type. For more information about the inclusion of these BLCLI commands in BMC Atrium Orchestrator processes, see BLCLI-commands-for-inclusion-in-a-process.
  2. Select the root job node or any of the job run nodes to display basic information in tabular form on the right.

To view the log for a Workflow Job run

  1. Select a job run in the display of Workflow Job results, right-click, and select Show Log.

A window displays log messages generated by the job.

    Note

Besides the log messages issued by the BMC Server Automation Workflow Job, the log may include messages issued by the BMC Atrium Orchestrator process if you included the updateWorkflowJobRunLog BLCLI command in the associated BMC Atrium Orchestrator process. For more information about the inclusion of this BLCLI command in BMC Atrium Orchestrator processes, see BLCLI-commands-for-inclusion-in-a-process.
Other messages may be returned from BMC Atrium Orchestrator to the Workflow Job run log. These may include, for example, messages about process termination due to unexpected issues or after you cancel or abort an executing Workflow Job through the Tasks in Progress view.

  2. Click Close to close the log messages window.
