Patch management updates for SP3

Upgrading Installp (bos.rte.install) during an AIX analysis job run

You can upgrade the 'bos.rte.install' package on the target to a higher version available in the catalog while running the analysis. For more information on this feature see the Upgrade Installp during analysis and field in Patching-Job-Analysis-options-for-AIX.

Passing additional options to the installp command during an AIX analysis job run

You can specify additional options that you want to use with the Installp command. These options are passed in addition to the default options passed by BMC Server Automation. You cannot modify the default options.

You can enter the additional options in the Additional Installp option field while creating an AIX patch analysis job. For more information, see Patching-Job-Analysis-options-for-AIX.

Support for Windows Server 2012 R2

BMC Server Automation version 8.3 SP3 provides Patching support for Windows Server 2012 R2.

Linux Patch analysis

RPM versions are now used in the patch analysis include and exclude list. So, if an RPM version is excluded from the package, it does not affect the other RPM versions in the same package during the Patch analysis.

Installing the exact RPM version

You can now install a specified RPM version of a Patch analysis job in install mode.
