Workaround for patching to Windows 2012 R2

In 8.3.02 Patch 1, if you are patching to a Windows 2012 R2 platform, then you need to refer to the following workaround:

Download the Product_Categories.xml file from BMC Communities  and save it in any server. Add/Import the XML into BMC Server Automation using the following steps:

  1. Under Configuration menu click on Patch Global Configuration.

    1. Select the Windows tab.
    2. In the Windows Filter Configuration File text field click on ellipse button as shown in red with label 1 in the following figure.
    3. Select the Product_Categories.xml file from the downloaded location. Your selection will be displayed as shown in the figure with label 2.
    4. To save the selection click the save button as shown in the figure with label 3.

  3.  Create a Windows Patch Catalog and add Microsoft Windows Server 2012 filter to it, If you have already added this filter, then Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 patches will get added during the next Catalog update job (for existing catalogs).
