QM001809864: Red Hat Catalog Update job and Red Hat offline patch downloader utility fails with an error due to changes in the RPM lookup URL

When you try to run the Red Hat Catalog Update job or the Red Hat offline patch downloader utility from the BMC Server Automation console, it fails with an error such as the following:

Rpm download failed: [rpm_package].rpm,Error occurred while downloading the patch, retries completed.
com.bmc.sa.patchfeed.FeedException: Error occurred while downloading the patch, retries completed.

This problem is caused due to the recent changes in the Red Hat RPM lookup URLs.

Causes and Solution

The Red Hat website has been modified on 11/21/2013, which affects the download of patches to BMC Server Automation.

Fixes for this issue are available for most of the versions of BMC Server Automation 8.1, 8.2, and 8.3 at the following FTP location:

ftp://ftp.bmc.com/pub/KA369037/

If you do not see your version on the FTP server, please create a ticket with BMC Customer Support.
