Prerequisites for BMC Server Automation UCS Manager
The following conditions are required for successful configuration.
- You must have BMC Server Automation installed and the BMC Server Automation Application Server must be running.
For further BMC Server Automation requirements, see Planning. For BMC Server Automation installation instructions, see Installing. - You must have access to a BMC Server Automation Console.
- The Cisco UCS systems that you plan to manage must be running.
- Every Cisco UCS system that you plan to manage through BMC Server Automation must have a common user account, using the same username and password. BMC Server Automation UCS Manager uses one account to authenticate against each UCS system.
Using the Cisco UCS Manager, complete the following tasks on the Cisco UCS systems:
- Acknowledge a blade
- Create policies
- Define networks
- Create blade pools (optional)
For information about these tasks, see the Cisco documentation.
- If you plan to use the provisioning features of UCS Manager, set up the BMC Server Automation provisioning environment according to the instructions in Setting-up-the-provisioning-system.
To provision UNIX-style operating systems, you might need a custom Gentoo image. Ask your BMC Server Automation representative for information about how to obtain this image. Alternatively, you can select the Skip Linux Pre-Install boot image option.
