Setting up BMC Server Automation UCS Manager


This section describes configuration procedures and options for BMC Server Automation UCS Manager. The following table provides a high-level description of the process for configuring a new BMC Server Automation UCS Manager environment and includes links to topics with detailed instructions.

Plan and prepare the environment

Review the installation requirements and prerequisites. Some prerequisites are tasks that you must perform before you launch the installation program.

Designate a BMC Server Automation UCS Manager server

Designate a server as the BMC Server Automation UCS Manager server and install the RSCD agent on this server. Add the designated server to the console as a managed server.

Distribute configuration objects to the BMC Server Automation UCS Manager server

Distribute configuration objects to the designated BMC Server Automation UCS Manager server.

Set server properties for the BMC Server Automation UCS Manager server

Set several settings, especially the VIRTUALIZATION* property, on the designated BMC Server Automation UCS Manager server.

(Optional) Configure secure communication with the Cisco UCS systems

Optionally configure SSL-based communication with UCS systems. This involves setting the SSL configuration option and storing a certificate for each managed UCS system.

Add the UCS systems that you want to manage

Add UCS systems that you want to manage to the BMC Server Automation Console.
