Using the schemas - Backward compatibility and validation

The Virtual Guest Package (VGP) schema and the Virtual Guest Job (VGJ) schema are live documents that may change in the future.

The BMC Server Automation system ensures backward compatibility and consumes XML generated with old copies of the schema, even when the XML emitted by a VGP may have new optional elements according to the latest schema.

The consumers of the schema should not validate the VGP output XML against the schema, because when the BMC Server Automation system is upgraded, the schema being used by client applications may be an older version of the schema.
