Preparing to import a list of devices

You can import multiple devices at the same time by listing MAC addresses in text files and importing those files. These MAC address import files can optionally include property values for the imported devices.

To import a list of devices, you must first create one or more MAC address import files. These files contain the MAC addresses of the devices to import.

You can also use the import process to assign configuration values to the devices by adding properties to the MAC address files. If you assign configuration values in this way, the provisioning operator does not have to type the values for each device at provisioning time.

To assign configuration values, you must first create properties for the configuration items and add those properties to the system package. Then you can add the properties and values into the MAC address files.

For information about the MAC address file format and examples, see Creating a MAC address file. For information about creating properties and adding them to the MAC address file, see Assigning configuration values during device import.

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
