Configuring provisioning
The provisioning process uses four provisioning technologies — PXE, JumpStart, NIM, and Ignite. You must configure provisioning for each technology to establish a connection to the data store and other functional software components.
Before you begin
Each provisioning technology requires supporting components. Verify that the required components are installed before proceeding. For information about setting up the components for each technology, see Setting-up-the-provisioning-system.
- PXE provisioning requires a DHCP server, a PXE server, a TFTP server, data stores, and agent installation files.
- JumpStart provisioning requires a working JumpStart environment, configured for and stocked with all of the operating system installation files for provisioning your target machines, including RSCD agent installation files.
- NIM provisioning requires a working NIM environment, configured for and stocked with all of the operating system installation files for provisioning your target machines, including RSCD agent installation files.
- Igniteprovisioning requires a working Ignite environment, configured for and stocked with all of the operating system installation files for provisioning your target machines, including RSCD agent installation files.
To configure the provisioning environment
Each provisioning technology requires a set of configuration tasks, as listed in the following table.
