Distributing configuration objects

Before you use the BMC Server Automation Console to manage a virtual environment, you must distribute the appropriate configuration objects to the target platform as described in this topic.

To run the Distribute Configuration Objects Job

  1. From within the BMC Server Automation Console, navigate to the Jobs folder.
  2. Select a job group under which you want to create your Distribute Configuration Objects Job.
  3. Right-click the job group and select New > Administration Task > Distribute Configuration Objects. This starts the job wizard.
  4. Provide a name for the job and click Next.
  5. On the Selected Configuration Objects panel, in the Available Configuration Objects section, expand the Global Configuration Objects list.
  6. Select the configuration object appropriate for your virtualization platform, as listed in the following table, and add it to the Selected Configuration Objects section. The [confluence_table-plus] macro is a standalone macro and it cannot be used inline. Click on this message for details.

where <version> represents the version number of the Configuration Object, for example, v82,000,000 for version 8.2.

    Note

If you have not applied the service pack and are using version 8.2.00, the new RHEV configuration object is not auto-imported as it is certified against a beta version of RHEV 3.0. Should you choose to use the beta version of the configuration object, note that upgrade from the beta configuration object to the GA-version RHEV 3.0 configuration object may not be supported. The RHEV 3.0 beta configuration object is located in the <installDirectory>{}br\beta_content\rhev_beta4_co directory (file name is rhev-beta4.zip). For instructions on importing the configuration object, see Adding-a-custom-configuration-object.

  7. Click Next.
  8. On the Targets panel, select the appropriate target server for your platform. The [confluence_table-plus] macro is a standalone macro and it cannot be used inline. Click on this message for details.

  9. Click Finish, and execute the job.
