Controlling the permissions of copied objects
Use this procedure to control the permissions that are assigned to objects during copy and paste operations in the BMC Server Automation Console.
Normally, when users copy and paste an object, the newly created object has the same permissions as those assigned to the object that is copied. After you use blasadmin to perform this procedure, users can copy and paste an object, and the newly created object has the permissions that are specified for that type of object in the object permissions template defined for the user's role. Also, the user's role is granted full permission to the object (that is, a * authorization).
- Start the Application Server Administration console, as described in Starting the Application Server Administration console.
- To enable copying of objects so that the copied objects are assigned a default set of permissions, enter the following: set ACLCopy UseDefaultAclOnObjectCopy true
- True means that when you copy and paste an object, the newly created object is granted a default set of permissions.
- False means that when you copy and paste an object, the newly created object has the same permissions that were defined for the object that was copied. By default, this option is set to false.
- Restart the Application Server.
Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
