Modification of Apache web server port number fails

On Red Hat Enterprise Linux and SUSE Linux Enterprise, if you provide a port number less than or equal to 1024 while modifying the Apache web server, the following error message appears: Permission denied. Please enter a different port.

Resolution: Provide a port number greater than 1024.
