Also, ensure that the following requirements are met:
- If you are reinstalling the product after uninstalling it, ensure that the Cognos service is removed before you start reinstalling the product. Also, ensure that you reboot the computer before reinstalling the product.
- The Oracle instance or Microsoft SQL Server services must be up and running for the Cognos service to start after the installation.
- You must have the Administrator rights to invoke the installation script.
To install BMC Decision Support for Server Automation on Windows
- Navigate to the Disk1 directory, where you extracted the product installation files.
- Double-click the setup.exe file.
- Follow the instructions on the installation screens. For details about the required installation parameters, see Installation-worksheet.
- To configure the product immediately after the installation, click the specified URL to launch the BMC Decision Support for Server Automation Console in a web browser. Alternatively, you can configure the product later by launching the console.
When you finish specifying installation options in the installation screens, it can take 20 to 30 minutes to install BMC Decision Support for Server Automation. You can observe this process using the log file that is specified in the installation screen.
After you install
After the product is installed successfully, you need to refresh at least one environment variable, otherwise an error message appears while running ETL for the first time. To refresh an environment variable, complete the following steps:
- Right-click Computer and select Properties.
- In the Tasks pane, click Advanced System Settings.
In the System Properties dialog box, click Environment Variables.
- Under System variables, double-click any of the product system variables (for example, BDS_HOME).
- Click OK.
All system environment variables are refreshed.
