BMC recommendations
BMC recommends that you use Enterprise Edition of all Oracle databases. While the product is designed to work with the Standard Edition of these databases, the Enterprise Edition offers better performance when managing large data volumes. BMC recommendations for data warehousing also include the use of capabilities that are available in Enterprise Editions.
Oracle Client requirements
DBA privileges (sys account privileges) are required to create tablespaces and users for the reports data warehouse. Only a sys user can grant dbms_lob permission to a user and this permission is required for a reports data warehouse user.
The following table shows the supported operating system and Oracle installation combinations. This table also includes the database client software requirements for the reports server.
Operating system and Oracle combinations
Database | Platform support | Installation requirement | Tool required |
---|---|---|---|
Oracle | Windows, UNIX | When installing the client, select the Administrator installation type. The insta-client installation type is not sufficient. | SQL*Loader (sqlldr) |
