Performing the installation on Windows


Note

You can install BMC Decision Support for Server Automation on Windows for deployments with the Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle databases.

Before you begin

  • You must have the Administrator rights to invoke the installation script.

To install BMC Decision Support for Server Automation on Windows

  1. Navigate to the Disk1 directory, where you extracted the product installation files.   
  2. Double-click the setup.exe file.
  3. Follow the instructions on the installation screens. For details about the required installation parameters, see Installation-worksheet.
  4. To configure the product immediately after the installation, click the specified URL to launch the BMC Decision Support for Server Automation Console in a web browser. Alternatively, you can configure the product later by launching the console.

When you finish specifying installation options in the installation screens, it can take 20 to 30 minutes to install BMC Decision Support for Server Automation. You can observe this process using the log file that is specified in the installation screen. 

Unsupported parameter for macro: width, url, height Due of this, the macro might have some unexpected results.

After you install

After the product is installed successfully, you need to refresh at least one environment variable, otherwise an error message appears while running ETL for the first time. To refresh an environment variable, complete the following steps:

  1. Right-click Computer and select Properties.
  2. In the Tasks pane, click Advanced System Settings.
  3. In the System Properties dialog box, click Environment Variables.

    Note

    The steps to access the environment variables might vary across operating systems.

  4. Under System variables, double-click any of the product system variables (for example, BDS_HOME).
  5. Click OK.
    All system environment variables are refreshed.
