Configuring after upgrade

To configure after upgrading

Complete the steps after you upgrade.

  1. Check your Authentication Service settings and manually replace the settings if they are missing.
Authentication Service settings are sometimes removed during upgrades. In particular, this occurs with LDAP settings.
  2. Restore your customized files or custom settings in files (some possible customized files are described in the Back up your files section of the Before-you-upgrade page).
  3. Run the Report Administration Utility gencred command to renew credentials.
For information about using the Report Administration Utility and the gencred command, see Report-Administration-Utility-commands.
  4. For Inventory reporting, install the templates included with the Content Installer (if applicable).
For more information about downloading and installing the templates, see Installing-Inventory-templates-and-other-scripts.

    Notes

    • When you upgrade to version 8.2.xx, the templates existing in the earlier version are overwritten by the new templates.
    • For versions 8.2 or later, Inventory reporting is based on the Hardware Information custom objects, instead of extended objects. BMC recommends that you delete the os_config.nsh script from the fileServerName/storage/extended_objects directory of BMC Server Automation, if it exists. Additionally, delete the os_config.nsh-based configuration extended objects (for example, Uptime, a Windows extended object) by using the BMC Server Automation Administration console.
  5. (If you are using BSARA reports scripts) Before version 8.2 SP2, the BSARA reports scripts (collect_agent_logs.nsh and run_etl_from_om.nsh) are stored either in the BSARA Report Scripts 8.1.0.15 folder or in the BSARA Report Scripts 8.1.5.25 folder. Effective from version 8.2 SP2, BSARA reports scripts are stored in the BladeLogic Reports Scripts folder. Therefore, after running the Content Installer for 8.2 SP2 reports scripts, you need to update the NSH Script Jobs created for these scripts to use the updated folder, as follows:
    1. Open the job in BMC Server Automation, and note down the value of all script parameters.
    2. Set the value of NSH Script field to Depot\BladeLogic Reports Scripts and click OK.
    3. When you click OK, the values of all the script parameters are reset. Enter the values of these parameters.
For more information about updating jobs, see Modifying Network Shell Script Jobs.
  6. If you are using

  7. Run the ETL process to transfer data from all sites to the reports warehouse (see Running-ETL).

    Note

By default, you cannot see data for the following assets in the Inventory reports. To see the data, enable the assets after the first ETL run. For more information, see Enabling-Inventory-assets.
