Notifications cannot be sent through SMTP

After you upgrade from version 8.1, the value of the defualtSender option of the SMTP configuration is set to its default value (notifications@cognos.com) instead of the value before the upgrade. Therefore, BMC BladeLogic Decision Support for Server Automation cannot send notifications through SMTP relay.

Workaround:

  1. Navigate to the BDSSAInstallationDirectory/portal/configuration directory and open the cogstartup.xml file.
  2. Locate the notifications@cognos.com string and replace it with the email address from which you want the notifications to be sent.
  3. Save the file.
  4. Restart the Cognos services on the reports server computer.

 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
