Reports server requirements

The server on which you want to install

, called the reports server, must have the following software installed on it:

  • A supported operating system (see Platform-support)
     Ensure that your server has the required libraries for your operating system (see Linux-library-requirements).
  • A Remote System Call Daemon (RSCD) agent (installed and licensed)

    version 8.1 or later
  • Oracle 32-bit client software (even on a 64-bit computer). If you have installed Oracle 64-bit client, you must copy the Oracle 32-bit client libraries (from another 32-bit client installation) in the ORACLE_HOME/lib32 directory. If the lib32 directory does not exist, create it. Version of Oracle 32-bit client (from where you are copying the libraries) must match with the version of Oracle 64-bit client.
  • Microsoft SQL Server client software (only for deployment with the SQL Server database)
  • The database type and version of the reports data warehouse must be same as used by the  BMC Server Automation database. For details, see Database-support.

Note

  • BMC recommends that the reports server be a dedicated server and not have any other Java-based applications residing on it. BMC Decision Support for Server Automation overwrites the JAVA_HOME environment variable during the installation.
  • Having another Java-based application installed on the same server that uses a different version of JRE causes a conflict.
