To compress the Value Dashboard application database file

You can compress the Value Dashboard application file (dashboards.db.mv) to optimize the size of the file. This is a standard embedded-database operation that deletes database-specific information, such as trace information for queries. Use this function when the size of the database file grows too large (for example, beyond 20MB).

Note

The size of the database file is directly proportional to the size of your BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management deployment.

  1. In a browser, open the Value Dashboard configuration screen:
    http://computerName:portNumber/dashboards/#/config
  2. Click the Advanced tab.
  3. Click Compact.

To stop or start the Value Dashboard

  • On Windows:
    1. In the Windows the Control Panel, open the list of Services.
    2. Click the BMC CLM Value Dashboards Server service, and then click either Stop or Restart.
  • On Linux, enter the following command:
    service clmdashboards start|stop

To back up the Health and Value Dashboard database files

Consider backing up the Health and Value Dashboard database files periodically to preserve data in the event of a system failure.

Copy the following files:

  • For the Health Dashboard: installationDirectory\server\h2\CloudMon.h2
  • For the Value Dashboard: installationDirectory\server\dashboards.mv

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
