Service-oriented interface
A service-oriented interface (SOI) integrates disparate systems within an organization or heterogeneous systems by allowing reuse of their services. An SOI simplifies the interaction between the two systems and provides the standard create, read, update, and delete (CRUD) operations. In an SOI, an application's business logic or individual operations are presented as services for client applications. These services are loosely coupled, which means that the service interface is independent of the complex implementation details.
The major benefit of having a service-oriented interface is to provide a distinct and a standardized user interface that is easy-to-use and has a consistent way to access the underlying functionality.
