Glossary
Use the following glossary to understand terminology in the BMC Change Automation 2.0 solution documentation.
Automatic task
A task that is triggered by a predefined event in the workflow of a task template.
Automation job
An automation job is a set of instructions for performing a task in an automation system.
Automation system
An automation system is a system that operates or performs tasks with minimum human intervention.
Change record
A record created in Change Management for every RFC that documents the details until the RFC moves to closure.
Change rules
A set of specific Change Management rules to manage an RFC. These include rules for work logs, change reasons, or attachments required as well as notification rules.
Change template selection rules
Change template selection rule defines the criteria to search a relevant template. The rule finds a correct template with best match against input criteria and applies to a change record.
Request For Change (RFC)
A formal proposal for a change to be made. It includes details of the proposed change, and may be recorded on paper or electronically. (Source: ITIL Glossary)
Template
A form that helps you to quickly and accurately complete common types of incident requests, change requests, and work orders. When you select a template, the system automatically inserts data from the template into the corresponding fields in the new ticket. Using a template ensures that the data is entered correctly and consistently for that ticket type. Templates are created by system administrators.
Service-oriented interface
A service-oriented interface (SOI) integrates disparate systems within an organization or heterogeneous systems by allowing reuse of their services.
