Configuring data persistence interval

BMC Atrium Orchestrator forms a bridge between automation system and change management system for transmission of data. BMC Atrium Orchestrator stores all the messages received from either end point in a configured database.

Periodically, the SQL monitor adapter in BMC Atrium Orchestrator checks the database for incoming data from either automation system or change management system. Whenever data is received from either end, it is enriched, transformed (if necessary) and sent to the other end point. The default frequency to monitor database is one minute. However, you can configure this frequency.

BMC Atrium Orchestrator tries to resend the data to change management system, if transmission of data fails due to following reasons:

  • If no connection is established with the AR System server
  • If there is a time-out during database update
  • If there is a time-out due to a busy server

In the next database monitoring cycle, the monitor adapter notes the failed data entries along with the new data entries.

Similarly, the transmission of data to automation system fails, if BMC Atrium Orchestrator is unable to connect the specified automation system. BMC Atrium Orchestrator tries to resend the data for such failed entries. The default duration to resend such failed entries is three days, which can be configured as per your requirement.

In addition to the above mentioned errors, BMC Atrium Orchestrator sends failure notification to the system from where it received the data in the following scenarios:

  • If the host name is incorrect
  • If dates and time in the RFC has already elapsed

In such cases failure notification would be sent by BMC Atrium Orchestrator to the system from where it received this data.
