Managing change template selection rules

This topic provides information to a change administrator about procedures to create, modify, and search template selection rules.

To create a change template rule

1. Log in to BMC Remedy IT Service Management, and on the home page and expand Applications list on the left side of the page.
2. Navigate to Administrator Console > Application Administration Console > Custom Configuration > Foundation > Advanced Options > Template Selection Configuration.
3. Click Template Selection Configuration to open the form. 
   The following figure illustrates the Template Selection Configuration form.
   
   
4. In the Template Selection Configuration form, click Create.
5. In the Create New Rule form, enter the inputs as per your requirement.
   
    

6. Ensure that you populate all the mandatory fields marked with asterisks (*).

   Field	Description
   Rule Name	Name of the rule.
   Company	Name of Company for which the rule is defined.
   Template Name	The template to be applied, when the rule is selected.
   Status	The status of the rule - Offline or Enabled

7. To ensure that your rule gets precedence when searching, in the Sort Order field, enter a higher value for the sort order. For more information about sort order, see Sort order for template selection rule.

8. Click Save.
   You can see the rule in the search area of your form.

    

To modify a change template rule

1. Open the Template Selection Configuration form.
2. Select the rule that you want to edit  by clicking the check box next to the rule name and click . 
   
   

1. In the Modify Rule form, edit the input criteria as per your requirement.
2. Click Save.
   In the following example screenshot, the rule is modified by selecting another template for the rule in Template Name.
   
   
   
   You can see the modified rule in the search area of your form.
   
    

To search a change template selection rule

1. Open the Template Selection Configuration form.  

1. In the Search Rule area, populate the required input criteria to search.
2. Click Search.
   The rules matching the search criteria appears in the table. 
   The following screenshot illustrates a generalized search for rules related to Calbro Services.
   
   

To narrow down search criteria

To make your search more specific, you can narrow down the criteria to search a change template selection rule.

For example, you can search a rule for Calbro Services with following attributes:
Change class: Standard
Impact: 4-Minor/Localized
Urgency: Medium
Template Name: Calbro Services Standard-Medium
