Setting up the installation environment
This topic explains how to obtain the files that you need for installation.

Downloading the files
- Create a directory in which to place the downloaded files.
- Go to the BMC Electronic Product Distribution (EPD) website at https://webapps.bmc.com/signon/content/logon.jsp.
- At the logon prompt, enter your user ID and password, and then click Submit.
- On the Export Compliance and Access Terms page, provide the required information, agree to the terms of the agreements, and click Continue.
- If you are accessing this site for the first time, create an EPD profile to specify the languages and platforms that you want to see.
- Verify that the correct profile is displayed for your download purpose, and select the Product Patches tab.
- Locate the service pack:
- Locate the BMC BladeLogic Server Automation Suite product tree and expand its entries to show the available version numbers.
- Expand the version number (BMC BladeLogic Server Automation Suite 8.1.05).
- Expand the BBSA 8.1.00 SP5 item.
- Select the check boxes next to the agent, BMC BladeLogic Server Automation console, and Application Server installation files that are appropriate for your environment. Use the operating system and installer file name matrix below to help you determine which files to select. For specific upgrade information and supported upgrade paths, see Planning-for-upgrade.
- Select the check box next to the latest BMC BladeLogic SQL Upgrade Script Package (file name version-SQL_Update_Scripts.zip).
- Click Download (FTP) or Download Manager:
- Download (FTP) places the selected items in an FTP directory, and the credentials and FTP instructions are sent to you in an email message.
- Download Manager enables you to download multiple files consecutively, and to resume an interrupted download if the connection drops.
This method requires a one-time installation of the AkamiNetSession Client program on the target computer and is usually the faster and more reliable way to transfer files. A checksum is used to verify file integrity automatically.
