Searching server inventory and taking actions on search results

You can search server inventory, identify targets, and then obtain detailed information about each of those targets.

When searching server inventory, you can browse, perform a simple text search, or search all servers using complex sets of conditions based on server properties.

After finding servers of interest, you can live browse the server's configuration. When examining a server's file system, you view the contents of logs and other types of text-based files. You can also view the contents of configuration files.

  1. Click Inventory.
    The Inventory View opens.

  2. If you are logged on as a user that belongs to multiple security groups, you must select a group from the Security Group drop-down list at right.

If you do not belong to multiple security groups, the Security Group drop-down list does not appear.
  3. Use the Inventory View to search your server inventory.
The Inventory View offers the following techniques for searching the server inventory:
Perform a simple text search to find one or more servers.
    1. Enter a text string in the Search text box.
Your text is matched against any text visible on screen, such as part of a server name or description.
Search strings cannot include spaces or hyphens.
Results of a search return the first 100 items.

      2. In the first row of conditions, use the box at left to select a property, the middle box to select a qualifying action, and the box at right to select a value.
