Working with inventory

The topics in this section describe the tasks you can perform with server inventory.

Topic

Description

You can search server inventory, identify targets, and then obtain detailed information about each of those targets.

When searching server inventory, you can browse, perform a simple text search, or search all servers using complex sets of conditions based on server properties.

After finding servers of interest, you can live browse the server's configuration. When examining a server's file system, you view the contents of logs and other types of text-based files. You can also view the contents of configuration files.

When conducting a live browse of a VMware vCenter server, you can take action on the virtual machines that the vCenter hosts. The type of actions available vary depending on the VM's operating system.

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
