Provisioning virtual machines


This topic introduces the tasks you must perform when you use the portal to run a Provisioning Job based on a Virtual Guest Package (VGP) that was defined in BMC Server Automation. A VGP describes a virtual system. The VGP can be based on an existing virtual asset or you can create a new VGP based on a configuration you define.

Currently, Provisioning operations in the portal can only be based on VGPs created in VMware.

Using BMC Server Automation, create a VGP by discovering existing templates on a VMware vCenter server or by defining your own VGP.

Using the portal, create a Provisioning operation based on the VGP created in the previous step.

Execute the Provisioning operation.
