User goals and features


This topic describes the functional roles of users who use BladeLogic Portal, and how they interact with the product.

Operators

Operators are responsible for day-to-day administration tasks in the data center, such as provisioning, patching, and compliance. In BladeLogic Portal operators can run operations that are based on jobs that have already been defined by administrators in BMC Server Automation. Operators can also use the portal to configure and run some types of operations.

Portal administrators

Portal administrators are responsible for installing BladeLogic Portal and configuring its features after installation.

Security administrators

Administrators who are responsible for managing an organization's security infrastructure. Security administrators can use the Security Dashboard in Threat Director to identify situations that may require immediate attention and prioritize remediations actions.
