Using BMC Server Automation, define a Patch Analysis job that checks servers for a set of patches.

Using the portal, create a Patching operation based on the job you created in the previous step. Use targets already defined for the job or identify new targets.

Execute the Patching operation.

Examine the results of the Patching operation. You can view results by:

  • Missing patches (patches that are lacking on one or more servers)
  • Unpatched servers (servers lacking one or more required patches)

For targets that still require additional patches, run remediation jobs to deploy missing patches. You can:

  • Deploy all missing patches to all unpatched servers
  • Deploy all missing patches to one server
  • Deploy a single missing patch to all servers requiring that patch
  • Deploy a single patch to a single server (Windows only)

Repeat the initial Patching operation and check the results of the operation to confirm that targets are correctly patched. Optionally, you can examine the history of the operation to determine whether you are achieving a satisfactory level of correctly patched servers.
