Getting started with probable cause analysis
This use case builds on the Deploy monitoring agents use case. After you have completed the installation and configuration needed for that use case, you should take the following steps:
- Using BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management, perform any tasks necessary for data collection, such as configuration of monitors or thresholds. See the BMC ProactiveNet Monitor Guide, BMC ProactiveNet Administrator Guide, and BMC ProactiveNet User Guide.
- Let the agent collect data for a period of time, generally at least 24 hours.
After the agent has collected data, you are ready to analyze the probable cause of service degradation events.
