Using compliance reporting


Overview

Using the Service Automation Compliance Pod for the BMC Dashboards for Business Service Management product, IT executives, managers, and administrators can determine at a glance how well the state of their infrastructure complies with configuration policies and periodic audits. For example, they can see how well servers and networks comply with security, operational, and regulatory policies.

Benefits

IT managers can use BMC Dashboards for Business Service Management to monitor, measure, and manage the performance of their IT infrastructure, as well as quickly spot compliance trends.

System administrators can use BMC Dashboards for Business Service Management to gauge the effectiveness of the policies and procedures they have implemented for their IT infrastructure.

Dashboard information

The Service Automation Compliance Pod provides the following information components:

Information component

Description

Summary for most recent month and all business services

Presents information in a dial format. Each dial summarizes key performance indicators. Clicking on a dial causes the other charts on the dashboard to use a different key performance indicator and regenerate the information they present.

Using this information component, you can switch between the server and network domains.

When you click on a dial, the following key performance indicators are available:

  • Policy compliance — Ratio of the number of compliance rules satisfied to the number of compliance rules applied.
  • Device compliance ratio — Ratio of compliant devices to the total number of devices.
  • Policy Audit — Ratio of passed audits to the total number of audits.
  • Device Audit — Ratio of devices that passed audits to the total number of devices

Year/month

Provides a bar chart showing the active key performance indicator for a business service during the selected time period. For each business service, the active key performance indicators are shown for both servers and networks.

Business service

Provides a chart showing the active key performance indicator for a selected business service or all business services. This chart is particularly useful for identifying trends.

Domain

Provides a chart showing the active key performance indicator trends for a selected domain — either servers or networks. This chart is particularly useful for identifying trends.
