Getting started with continuous compliance for servers

This topic describes the installation and configuration tasks required for the use case.

This topic provides a high-level description of the installation and configuration tasks required to implement the BMC Continuous Compliance for Servers solution, part of the Compliance Automation value path.

Installation roadmap

The following table lists the products and versions that are required to implement the Continuous Compliance for Servers workflows. You do not have to install the products in any specific sequence, with the exception of the BMC BladeLogic Atrium Integration, which must be installed last.

BMC Remedy ITSM	7.6.04 SP1 plus latest hotfix	Install BMC Remedy ITSM Change Management and BMC Remedy ITSM Incident Management. Alternatively, the BMC Remedy IT Service Management Suite contains a collection of various BMC Remedy ITSM applications, including Service Desk and Change Management. BMC Atrium Orchestrator	Platform: 7.6.01.04 Content: 7.6.05.01	Install the following: Install BMC Atrium Orchestrator platform and core components. See "Installing the BMC Atrium Orchestrator product" in the BMC Atrium Orchestrator Installation Guide. Download and run the BMC Atrium Orchestrator Content Installer, to install the various modules, adapters, and artifacts required by the solution. See "Install the BMC Atrium Orchestrator content components for the solution" in the BMC Continuous Compliance for Server Automation Solution Getting Started Guide. Note the following installation considerations: You must install the platform first and then run the Content Installer to install the required components. You must also install the BMC BladeLogic Network Shell component on the same system as the CDP. The CDP process must run with Administrator rights.
BMC BladeLogic Server Automation	8.1	Install the following BMC BladeLogic Server Automation components. Install the Application Server, RCP Client and agents. See the following: For Windows platforms, see "Installing BMC BladeLogic on Windows" in the BMC BladeLogic Server Automation Installation Guide. For UNIX platforms, see "Installing BMC BladeLogic on Linux and UNIX" in the BMC BladeLogic Server Automation Installation Guide. If you want to launch the BMC BladeLogic console from the BMC Remedy ITSM task ticket, install the BMC BladeLogic client on the same system as the BMC Remedy ITSM client. Install the BMC BladeLogic Network Shell (NSH) component on the same system where you install the BMC Atrium Orchestrator Platform CDP. You can install NSH on Windows platforms and UNIX platforms.
BMC BladeLogic Decision Support for Server Automation	8.1	Install BMC BladeLogic Decision Support for Server Automation. This product is necessary to obtain data from BMC BladeLogic Server Automation, and is required for CI relationships that are created in the task ticket for the target servers. BMC BladeLogic Atrium Integration	8.1	After installing all the products listed above, install BMC BladeLogic Atrium Integration, which is required for consistency of server naming between BMC Atrium CMDB, BMC Remedy ITSM and BMC BladeLogic Server Automation. Otherwise, the consistency of server naming between BMC Atrium CMDB, BMC Remedy ITSM and BMC BladeLogic Server Automation has to be ensured through other custom processes that you create. See "Installing BMC BladeLogic Integration for Atrium" in the BMC BladeLogic Atrium Integration Implementation Guide. Before you can install BMC BladeLogic Atrium Integration, you must run the extract, transform, and load (ETL) tool provided by BMC BladeLogic Decision Support for Server Automation. BMC BladeLogic Atrium Integration must be installed on one of the following platforms: Windows 2003 Server 32-bit and 64-bit, SP2 and later Windows XP, SP 2 and later

Configuration roadmap

The following table lists the configuration tasks that are required to implement the Continuous Compliance for Servers workflows, and provides pointers to publications with detailed instructions.

Step 1: Create BMC Remedy ITSM user accounts	BMC Remedy ITSM	Do the following: Create the Remedy account for BMC Atrium Orchestrator (required) Create the user account for BMC BladeLogic Server Automation (optional) See "Create BMC Remedy ITSM user accounts" in the BMC Continuous Compliance for Server Automation Solution Getting Started Guide.
Step 2: Configure a grid	BMC Atrium Orchestrator	After the BMC Atrium Orchestrator platform components are installed and running, configure a grid. The grid distributes information across the BMC Atrium Orchestrator components. See "Grid configuration" in the BMC Atrium Orchestrator Installation Guide.
Step 3: Verify logon account IDs	BMC Remedy ITSM	Verify that you have a BMC Remedy ITSM administrative logon ID. During the BMC Continuous Compliance for Server Automation solution installation, this account is used to export the ITSM templates. See "Verify logon account IDs" in the BMC Continuous Compliance for Server Automation Solution Getting Started Guide.
Step 4: Configure BMC Remedy ITSM	BMC Remedy ITSM	Do the following: Configure group auto assignments for change tickets. See "To configure group auto assignments for change tickets" in the BMC Continuous Compliance for Server Automation solution Getting Started Guide. Configure group auto assignments for incidents. See "To configure group auto assignments for incidents" in the BMC Continuous Compliance for Server Automation solution Getting Started Guide. Review BMC Remedy artifacts. Prior to configuring BMC Remedy ITSM, you must use the Content Installer to install the BMC Remedy artifacts. When you run the installer, you select values for the key fields to customize the preconfigured BMC Remedy artifacts required by the solution. Use the BMC Remedy ITSM Application Administration Console to verify or modify the values in the templates. For details about the BMC Remedy artifacts, see "Artifact and configuration reference" in the BMC Continuous Compliance for Server Automation solution Getting Started.
Step 5: Export and enable the required adapters	BMC Atrium Orchestrator	Use Grid Manager to complete the configuration of the following required adapters: BMC Remedy AR System application adapter BMC Remedy Monitor adapter BMC Atrium Orchestrator BladeLogic Operations Manager adapter BMC Atrium CMDB adapter SNMP Monitor adapter File adapter Web Services adapter For details on configuring these adapters for the solution, see "Configuring the adapters" in the BMC Continuous Compliance for Server Automation solution Getting Started Guide.
Step 6: Configure the connection between BMC BladeLogic Server Automation and BMC Atrium Orchestrator	BMC BladeLogic Server Automation	Through the BMC BladeLogic Server Automation Console, you must add the configuration information required to connect to BMC Atrium Orchestrator. For more information, see "Enable BMC Remedy ITSM job approval integration" in the BMC Continuous Compliance for Server Automation solution Getting Started Guide.
Step 7: Activate and configure the required modules using Grid Manager	BMC Atrium Orchestrator	Before you can use the BMC Continuous Compliance for Server Automation solution, ensure that the modules are properly integrated to work with the BMC Remedy ITSM system. You must activate and configure the following modules: AMP-AD-BMC-Remedy-ARS AutoPilot-AD-BMC_Atrium_CMDB AutoPilot-AD-Utilities AutoPilot-OA-Change_Management AutoPilot-OA-Common_Utilities AutoPilot-OA-Configuration_Management AutoPilot-OA-Incident_Management AutoPilot-OA-Task_Management BMC_BladeLogic-AD-Operations_Manager BladeLogic-SA-ITSM_Integration Closed_Loop_Server-SA-Audit Closed_Loop_Server-SA-Compliance Server_Incident-SA-EnrichmentFor details on how to perform this task, see "Adding modules" in the BMC Continuous Compliance for Server Automation solution Getting Started Guide.
Step 8: Configure BMC BladeLogic templates and jobs for the solution	BMC BladeLogic Server Automation	To use the BMC Continuous Compliance for Server Automation solution you must create the following items in the BMC BladeLogic system, according to the use cases you want to implement: Create new job properties - required for tracking operator-initiated changes, tracking server audit, discrepancies and tracking server compliance violations. Create an Audit component template, an Audit Job, and an Audit Remediation Job - required for tracking server audit discrepancies. Create a Compliance component template, a Compliance Job, and a Compliance remediation Job - required for tracking server compliance violations.
