Mission statement

This site provides high-level documentation for data center automation use cases related to the BMC BladeLogic Automation Suite.

For this release, all use cases involve only cross-product solutions. In future releases, this site will expand to include the larger scope of functionality that the BMC BladeLogic Automation Suite offers for data center automation.

Value paths

BSM for Data Center Automation is an initiative from BMC that provides modular solutions addressing value paths that focus on five areas of data center automation. Each value path consists of multiple elements that make up a roadmap to maturity. These value paths help you achieve an orderly, staged transition to data center automation, laying the foundation for further evolution to “cloud” data centers.

BMC offers a comprehensive approach to data center automation that helps you eliminate manual and isolated tasks by automating data center management activities and processes across distributed and mainframe environments. The BMC BladeLogic Automation Suite:

  • Reduces the time and effort required to provision and reconfigure IT resources, while eliminating service disruptions resulting from manual configuration errors
  • Automates compliance audit and remediation to maintain continuous compliance and demonstrate enforcement of regulatory controls
  • Provides a unified view of IT resources to detect problems before users are impacted
  • Integrates critical workload processes from a single point of control to prevent scheduling problems from developing into business problems
  • Automates the detection and remediation of potential problems across mainframe systems, subsystems, transactions, databases, and applications
