Viewing the stages of tasks and assigning stages to ad hoc tasks


As a case agent, you can change the stages of the tasks in a security case. In the Security Incident Handling line of business, the case templates that are available out of the box contain tasks that have stages assigned to them. You can only view the stages of a predefined task. By default, the following stages are available:

  • Preparation
  • Analysis and identification
  • Containment
  • Eradication
  • Recovery
  • Lessons Learned

You can assign or modify stages for only ad hoc tasks in a case.

To view the stage of a task

You can view the stage for all tasks in the Runbook tab of a security case. All tasks in a case in the Security Incident Handling line of business are assigned a stage that you cannot modify. You can view and assign the stage to an ad hoc task. The following image shows the tasks on the Runbook tab of a security case:

To create an ad hoc task and assign a stage

  1. In a security case, on the Runbook tab. click +Task.
  2. In the Manage Tasks pane, click + Add Ad hoc task.
  3. Specify the Task Summary.
  4. Add the description, and if required, attach a file for the description.
  5. Select the Line of Business and Priority.
  6. Select the Stage.
  7. Specify the other details for the task, such as categories, label, status, site, and target date.
  8. Select the Assigned Group and Assignee.
  9. Click Save

 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
