Installing a CDP using the wizard

To install a CDP

While installing a CDP, the installation program searches for and uses the configuration settings for the repository.

Navigate to the directory where the installation program files are downloaded and start the installation program.
- Windows: setup.cmd
- Linux: linux_bao_server_installer_vv_rr_nn.sh
On the splash screen, select the language in which to view the installation program, and click OK.
Review the welcome page, and click Next.
Read the license agreement, agree to the terms, and click Next.
Select Install new Orchestrator components and click Next.
Select Configuration Distribution Peer and click Next.
CDP+OCP options
You can choose to install the optional component – Operator Control Panel (OCP) with the CDP.
If you are installing a non-English version of the Operator Control Panel, you must install it separately from the CDP. You must install the non-English OCP and CDP on separate Tomcat servers.
You can also install the OCP independently after the CDP is installed successfully.
Browse to select the directory to install the CDP and click Next.
By default, the component is installed in the following directory (also referred to as AO_HOME in the documentation):
- Windows: C:\Program Files\BMC Software\BAO\CDP
- UNIX: /opt/bmc/BAO/CDP
Enter the root port that you want to use for the CDP and click Next.
(Optional) Click Edit Ports to change the default port values and avoid conflicts with other applications or operating system services on the target server and click Next.
Default CDP ports
By default, CDP is installed using the following ports:
CDP: 38080
CDP Shutdown: 38050
CDP Communication: 61719
On the Primary CDP selection panel provide the following information and click Next.
Note
Since you are installing the CDP for the first time, Primary CDP is selected by default. You select the Secondary CDP option only if you want to install the High Availability CDP after the primary CDP is successfully installed.
Default values for the Grid Name and the CDP Name are displayed. Update the values that match your requirement.
1. Select the Repository Protocol that matches the protocol used while installing the repository.
  Default value is https.
2. In the Repository Host Name field, type the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of the host where the repository is installed.
3. In the Repository Port Number field, type the port number on which the repository is installed.
  Default port number is 28080.
4. Specify the password for the administrator account used for the repository.
  If you have not created a separate administrator account after installing the repository, you can specify the password for the aoadmin account.
If using embedded Remedy SSO, select Install Embedded Remedy SSO and specify the cookie domain name and click Next.

If using external RSSO, select Use External Remedy SSO and provide the following information:

Remedy SSO URL	Type the external Remedy SSO URL in the following format: https://<hostname>/<port> For example, if Remedy SSO server has the name external-rsso.mydomain, the URL is: https://external-rsso.mydomain:8080
Remedy SSO Realm	Type the name of the realm to be used for TSO.
Admin password	Enter the admin password to log into RSSO.
Remedy SSO Version	Select your Remedy SSO version from the following list: 9.1.02, 9.1.03.x, 9.1.04.x, 18.x

To configure additional settings for the CDP, click Advanced options and specify the following information.

By default, the CDP is configured with the following default values. Make changes if you want to specify values that match your environment.

CDP Host Name	Host name (in an FQDN format) on which the CDP is installed
Repository HA Address	Repository IP address and port for communication with the enterprise service bus (ESB) are generated in the following format: <IPaddress>:<port> On a computer that has multiple network interface cards (NICs) this must be the IP address that allows access from the CDP and/or the HA-CDP. The default port is the repository web port plus 10. For example, if the repository port is 28080, the Repository HA address is 28090. Notes Repository HA Address is required for installations/upgrades with embedded RSSO installations. This is not applicable if you are using external RSSO on the CDP. Often, multiple IP addresses are detected by the installer (on a machine that has multiple NICs). Verify the default address and port number and replace them if required.
CDP HA Address	CDP IP address and port for communication with the enterprise service bus are generated in the following format: <IPaddress>:<port> On a machine that has multiple network interface cards (NICs) this must be an IP address that allows access from the repository and/or the HA-CDP. The default port is the CDP web port plus 10. For example, if the CDP port is 38080, the CDP HA address is 38090. Notes CDP HA Address is required for installations/upgrades with embedded RSSO installations. This is not applicable if you are using external RSSO on the CDP. Often multiple IP addresses are detected by the installer (on a machine that has multiple NICs). Verify the default address and port number and replace them if required.

To start the CDP server after installation, select Yes.

Review the information and click Install.
On the Installation Summary panel, perform one of the following actions:
- To exit the installation program, click Done.
- To review the BAO_install_log.txt file, click View Log, and then click Done to exit the installation program.
Note
Cassandra database is installed out-of-the-box when you install the CDP or HA-CDP components. Cassandra database stores data for the jobs running on the Grid. This data is displayed on the Job List and Job View tabs on the Health Dashboard.
To verify whether the CDP is installed, log on to the Grid Manager (web application hosted on the CDP), by using the following details:
The [confluence_note] macro is a standalone macro and it cannot be used inline. Click on this message for details.
This macro generates standalone content. As a consequence you need to make sure to use a syntax that separates your macro from the content before and after it so that it's on a line by itself. For example in XWiki Syntax 2.0+ this means having 2 newline characters (a.k.a line breaks) separating your macro from the content before and after it.
The Status tab shows the grid that you set up when you installed the CDP.

Post-installation activities

If you are using the embedded Remedy SSO, after installing your

After installing the primary CDP, the Default role has full access to the repository and to the grid, just as the AoAdmin role. In Remedy SSO, if a user is not assigned to any role, it is assigned to the Default group/role. BMC recommends that you update the permissions for the Default group to avoid providing permissions to unintended users. For more information, see Configuring-after-grid-installation.
If you are installing in a Linux environment, you must complete the following instructions after the installation.

  To do this, edit the .bashrc file located in the $HOME directory and add the path.

2. As root user, run the following command to update permissions so that non-root users can run the dmidecode command:
  chmod g+s /usr/sbin/dmidecode
3. Restart the TrueSight Orchestration service (see Starting-and-stopping-product-components-and-services).
