Preparing for upgrade

Before you upgrade, ensure that you have completed the following tasks:

  1. Review supported upgrade paths in Upgrading.
  2. Make copies of server.xml and broker-config.xml files before upgrading. For more information, see Backing-up-server-xml-and-broker-config-xml-files.
  3. If you are upgrading components on a Windows computer, you must configure the data execution prevention (DEP) feature to recognize the installation program. For more information, see Configuring-DEP-on-Windows-computers-before-upgrading.
  4. If you are upgrading TrueSight Orchestration components on a Linux computer, run the rngd service to ensure that the system has adequate entropy. For information, see Run-the-rngd-service-on-Linux-computers-before-upgrades.
  5. If your TrueSight Orchestration environment will use HTTPS, ensure that your environment supports TLS secure transport protocol before upgrading to Platform. For information about converting from HTTP to HTTPS, Configuring-TrueSight-Orchestration-to-use-HTTPS
  6. The Remedy Single Sign-On (Remedy SSO or RSSO) authentication service upgrade action that you need to take depends on your current Remedy SSO setup:

    • Embedded Remedy SSO: When you upgrade the TSO repository, CDP, and HA-CDP, the embedded Remedy SSO is upgraded automatically. Do not attempt to upgrade Remedy SSO separately.
    • External Remedy SSO: Before upgrading TSO Platform components, upgrade your external Remedy SSO to the supported version of Remedy SSO. See Authentication requirements for the supported Remedy SSO version. See Managing local users for Remedy SSO upgrade instructions.

    Notes

    • Remedy Single Sign-On version 9.1.02.001 only supports TrueSight Orchestration high availability with an embedded database. Stand-alone Remedy SSO version 9.1.02.001 installation does not support HA with an embedded DB.
    • All local users and groups created after the release of 9.1 SP2 and prior to upgrading to 9.1 SP3 are not assigned to any realm. After the upgrade of Remedy Single Sign-On to 9.1 SP3, a new empty realm is created and all existing local users are moved into it. The administrator can remove local users from this realm and recreate them for the necessary realm if needed. For more information, see Managing local users in BMC Remedy SSO online documentation.

Upgrade worksheets

During an upgrade, the installation program displays settings from the previous installation that you can modify during the upgrade. The upgrade worksheets provide space for you to list the property settings that correspond to the text boxes and options that are displayed during the upgrade process.Where applicable, properties affected by upgrade scenarios are noted. If you choose to change these settings, use the worksheets in this section to record the new settings before you start the upgrade.
You can also use the completed worksheets to edit the values in the options file templates used for silent upgrades.
