Viewing installation log files


The installation programs create log files that contain information about the events that occurred during the installation and the status of the installation process.

When you run the installation program with the GUI, you can click View Log at the end of the installation. If you closed the GUI before you viewed the log, you can use the following procedure to locate the file. You can also use the Maintenance Tool to view log files.

To view installation log files

  1. Go to the location where the installation log files are located. Typically, the installation log files are located in the following default locations. 
    • Red Hat Linux: /tmp
    • Microsoft Windows: C:\DOCUME~1_userName_\LOCALS~1\Temp
  2. Open the log file that corresponds to the installation type, as shown in the following table.

    Includes installation information for the repository, CDP, and all optional components, such as secondary peers

    Includes the installation information for TrueSight Orchestration Development Studio

    TrueSight Orchestration content

    BAO_content_install_log.txt
    Includes all installed content: adapters, modules, and run books
    When you use the content installation program to install a predefined workflow for a BMC solution, the log files are created in contentInstallationDirectory\import-logs

  3. Scroll to the end of the file to locate the BMC Atrium Orchestrator install succeeded success message.

 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
