Results tab of the Activity Property panel


You can use an activity's Results tab to define the success criteria for executing some activities, such as Command Line, For, or Launch Job, when running a workflow. When the activity's success criteria are met, the workflow continues. If the criteria are not met, the workflow ends without completing.

Warning

The Results tab appears in the Activity Property panel when it is applicable for the activity.

You can use the Summary and Detail fields to include information for display in the Activity Results area of the Operator Control Panel when a workflow that includes the activity is run from the Operator Control Panel.

To define success criteria

  1. On the the TrueSight Orchestration Development Studio process canvas, double-click an activity to display the Property panel for the activity.
  2. On the Property Panel, select the Results tab.
  3. Select Define success criteria.
  4. Click Add new row ResultsTabAddNewRow.GIF.
  5. From the Parameter type menu, choose a context item or module configuration parameter that, when equal to the specified static value, determines the activity's success (see Specifying context items, dynamic context items, or module configurationsfor instructions).
  6. From the Value type menu, choose the type (String or Numeric) for the static value against which the previous parameter will be compared to determine the activity's success.
  7. From the Comparator menu, choose the comparison state that defines the activity's success.
  8. In the Compare to field, enter the static value for the comparison.
  9. After populating these fields, click OK.
  10. You can continue to add information to Summary or Detail fields or, if you are done , click OK in the Results tab.

Summary/Failed Summary and Detail/Failed Detail fields

Use these fields to provide information on a workflow activity that is run from the Operator Control Panel. The information appears in Operator Control Panel's Activity Results pane, Summary and Details columns. You can specify that the information appear for the following activity execution results:

  • Provide information when an activity runs (and that activity does not have defined success criteria).
    Leave Define success criteria unselected and enter the information for display in the Summary and Detail fields. 
  • Provide information when an activity successfully meets defined success criteria.
    Select Define success criteria and define the criteria as specified above, then enter the information for display in the Summary and Detail fields. 
  • Provide information when an activity does not successfully meet defined success criteria.
    Select Define success criteria and define the criteria as specified above, then enter the information for display in the Failed Summary and Failed Detail fields.

To specify information in a Summary/Failed Summary or Detail/Failed Detail field

  1. Use one of the following options to add information to the field:
    • Insert context or configuration element as follows:
      1. Click Insert Context/Config Element into fieldName ResultsTabInsertContextConfigElement.GIF.
      2. From the Parameter type menu, choose a context item, module configuration parameter, or dynamic context (see Specifying context items, dynamic context items, or module configurations for instructions).
      3. Click OK
    • Add a sample from the Resource area as follows:
      1. Click Open a sample from the resource area ResultsTabOpenSampleFromResourceArea.GIF.
      2. Navigate to the sample and select it.
      3. Click OK.
    • Type the summary or detail text that you want to display in the Operator Control Panel directly into the associated field.
  2. When you are done adding information, click OK in the Results tab.

Specifying context items, dynamic context items, or module configurations

The procedures on this page include specifying parameter types that can be context items, dynamic context items, or module configurations. 

To specify a context item

  1. Choose Context item from the Parameter type menu.
  2. Click the Browse button next to the Name field to launch the Context Browser and select an existing context item.
    or
    Click New and create a context item (see Context-Browser for instructions).

To specify a dynamic context item

  1. Choose Dynamic context from the Parameter type menu.
  2. Click the Browse button next to the Name field to launch the Context Browser and select an existing dynamic context item.
    or
    Click New and create a dynamic context item (see Dynamic-contexts for details).

To specify a module configuration parameter

Choose Module Configuration, navigate to the parameter, and select it.
