21.3 enhancements

Review the TrueSight Orchestration Content 21.3 enhancements for features that will benefit your organization and to understand changes that might impact your users.

Application adapter enhancements

In this release, the application adapters include the following enhancements.

Execute commands on the local host without using the xCmd utility in the Microsoft Active Directory application adapter

In versions earlier to 21.3, by default, the Microsoft Active Directory adapter establishes a remote connection with the local host and uses the xCmd utility to execute commands. For example, if the Active Directory server is installed on a host where a peer, such as LAP, is installed and the adapter has been enabled on the peer, the adapter uses the xCmd utility.

Starting from version 21.3, if you do not specify a target element in both the adapter configuration as well as the adapter request, the commands are directly executed on the local host without using the xCmd utility. For more information, see Microsoft-Active-Directory-adapter and Request-schema-for-the-Microsoft-Active-Directory-adapter.

Support for BMC Remedy AR System (On-Premise) versions 19.08 and 20.02 with encryption security

The BMC Remedy AR System adapter now supports BMC Remedy AR System (On-Premise) versions 19.08 and 20.02 with the encryption security enabled on the AR System server.

For the complete list of supported versions, see Supported-application-versions-for-the-application-adapters.

Base adapter enhancements

In this release, the base adapters include the following enhancements.

Send data in GET requests in the HTTP adapter

The HTTP adapter supports sending data in GET requests through the <data> element. You can send the data in one of the following formats: Plain text, XML, or JSON. For more information, see HTTP adapter request and response for the GET action.

Send data in GET requests in the REST adapter

The REST adapter supports sending data in GET requests through the <body> element. You can send the data in JSON format. For more information, see REST-adapter-request-and-response-for-the-GET-action.

Establish SSH connections with remote targets via an HTTP proxy server in the SSH adapter

The SSH adapter can now establish an SSH connection to execute commands on a remote target via an HTTP proxy server. The HTTP proxy support is applicable for all targets defined in the adapter configuration and the dynamic targets. The HTTP proxy is static for both target types.

To establish the connection via an HTTP proxy server, perform the following tasks:

  • Set the <enable-http-proxy> element in the adapter request to true
  • Set the values of the following elements in the adapter configuration<HTTP Proxy Host><HTTP Proxy Port><HTTP Proxy Username>, and <HTTP Proxy Password>.

The base64Binary transmission mode for attachments when using the SOAP Request Method One in the Web Services adapter

The SOAP Request Method One in the Web Services adapter supports the base64Binary mode for uploading attachments. In this mode, the binary data is converted to an encoded string, which is the value of an XML element in the SOAP message. Upon receiving this message, the receiver decodes the encoded string to re-construct the original binary data.

To use this mode, set the value of the transmission-mode attribute of the attachment element to base64Binary in the adapter request. For more information, see Web-Services-adapter-request-and-response-using-method-one.

Response header information in the Web Services adapter response

The Web Services adapter response for the SOAP Method One approach now includes header information by using the <header-lines> tag that is returned by the target webservice. For the sample responses that include header information, see XML sample of the Web Services actor adapter response that includes header in response.
