Providing permissions for the PowerShell adapter


Before using the PowerShell adapter, you must complete the following prerequisite tasks. 

  • Enable the adapter on peers running on Microsoft Windows operating systems
  • Provide permissions to communicate with external interfaces

You can enable the PowerShell adapter on TrueSight Orchestration peers running on any supported Microsoft Windows operating systems.

For software requirements and compatibility information for TrueSight Orchestration, see BMC Solution and Product Availability and Compatibility Utility (SPAC requires a Support login). Log on using your support ID, search for TrueSight Orchestration Platform and choose the version that you are using to display compatibility information.

Also, the permission levels for the TrueSight Orchestration services (TrueSight Orchestration Repository, TrueSight Orchestration Lightweight Activity Peer, TrueSight Orchestration Configuration Distribution Peer, or TrueSight Orchestration High Availability Configuration Distribution Peer) on the Windows peer must be configured to allow the adapter to communicate properly.

To set permissions for the PowerShell adapter

  1. Log on to the Windows peer on which the PowerShell application adapter is to be enabled.
  2. Navigate to Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services.
  3. Right-click the TrueSight Orchestration Configuration Distribution Peer service, and select Properties from the pop-up menu.
  4. Click the Log On tab.
  5. Select This account.
  6. Type the user name for this service.

    Note

    The specified user must have the ability to communicate externally and utilize a communication interface.

  7. Type the corresponding password in the Password and Confirm Password text boxes.
  8. Click Apply.
  9. Click OK.
  10. Repeat step 2 to step 9 for the following services:
    • TrueSight Orchestration Configuration Distribution Peer or TrueSight Orchestration High Availability Configuration Distribution Peer
    • TrueSight Orchestration Lightweight Activity Peer
    • TrueSight Orchestration Activity Peer
  11. Restart the following services:
    • TrueSight Orchestration Configuration Distribution Peer or TrueSight Orchestration High Availability Configuration Distribution Peer
    • TrueSight Orchestration Lightweight Activity Peer
    • TrueSight Orchestration Activity Peer
