Provisioning the VMware LCM adapter

The TrueSight Orchestration actor adapter for VMware Lifecycle Manage can be used to provision and decommission virtual machines.

To provision a virtual machine

  1. Execute a request for creating a virtual machine.
The request waits for the required approval, depending on the approval mode set by the administrator.
  2. When the request is approved, VMware Lifecycle Manager attempts for auto-placement of the virtual machine.
If auto-placement fails, the request waits for placement by the administrator or IT staff.
  3. The virtual machine is created immediately or created at the specified commissioning date.

The following table shows the adapter requests elements:

Note

The values for application defined item-types such as lcm:ProvisioningToken and lcm:ProvisionInfrastructureCriteriaValue are the values displayed on the application user-interface. The values for VMware Infrastructure item-types such as VMware3:VmFolder and VMware3:ResourcePool are the corresponding IDs. To retrieve a list of items (containing the ID information) for each of these item-types, use the Find Infrastructure Elements process in the Utilities directory of adapter module.
